(Athletes in bold have already qualified for WC)

What big names are missing?

Most notably, defending World Champ Meg Jacoby will once again be sitting out the Major as she recovers from back surgery. Hong Kong qualifiers Ida Steensgaard and Lauren Griffith will not take part, along with Las Vegas qualifier Amy Bevilacqua. Lena Putters was the only other athlete to decline a spot while recovering from a hip injury.

What is on the line?

This is the penultimate opportunity to qualify for the World Championships in Chicago. If you do not grab a spot here, the only other opportunity is the Last Chance Qualifier in Barcelona this April. Podium spots also receive $7500/$5000/$3500 with smaller payments continuing through 15th place.

How do you qualify?

This race has 5 athletes who have already qualified for WC. This means 10 athletes are fighting for 3 spots. The first 3 athletes to cross the line who are not in bold in the list above will get the spots. This also means that as low as 8th place could walk away with a WC qualification.

Storylines to Watch:

  • After storming onto the scene and qualifying for Chicago in her first ever Major, Joanna Wietrzyk backed it up with a victory in Hong Kong. Lauren Weeks took a dominant victory in Las Vegas and we expect to see the veteran and the rookie once again racing at the front.
  • Vivian Tafuto and Viola Oberlander were both a part of Wall Ball Gate 2024 when they narrowly missed out on a second-place finish and ended up with a 3rd and 4th, respectively. Both athletes have seemingly been far from their best this year and will look to turn it around in the last Major.
  • There will be four English athletes making a quick trip to Glasgow. Kate Davey and Lucy Procter previously locked up their spots. Will the easier travel and a friendly UK crowd help elevate Zara Piergianni and Jade Skillen to a qualifying spot?
  • Camilla Massa was the quickest finisher in Las Vegas who did not qualify. While Jess Pettrow held the same spot in Amsterdam. If they can replicate these performances, they could punch a ticket.
  • A lone rookie is coming to Glasgow: the Austrian Tanja Stroschneider. After missing out on an Olympic bid for triathlon, she quickly transitioned into HYROX. Her first race was in Rimini in June of 2024 where she finished in 1:14:23. Since then, she has raced individually 7 more times with a Pro PR of 1:03:04. With this rapid improvement, she could easily be a dark-horse contender.
