đŸ”„ Everyone’s Talking About HYROX

With just two weeks to go until the World Championships in Chicago, the momentum around HYROX is impossible to ignore.

The last time Worlds were held in the U.S. was back in 2022 (Las Vegas) — and the sport has evolved massively since then. Whether you’re a competitor, coach, or casual observer
these days, it feels like everyone is talking about HYROX.

🧼 (3 x 3) + 1 Weekend

While eyes are on Chicago, this weekend is one of the biggest HYROX weekends ever — with three 3-day events and a bonus single-day debut.

Here’s what’s going down:

đŸ—œ HYROX NYC

Returning to Pier 76 on the Hudson River, this iconic venue delivered blue skies last year.
Rain may be in the forecast this time, but who might show up? 2024 had Lance Armstrong on the course — let’s see who races in 2025.

🏟 HYROX Cardiff

UK fans show out every time, and this time HYROX lands in Wales for the first time ever.
The venue? Principality Stadium — 75,000+ seats and home of the Welsh national rugby team. Could HYROX be shifting toward stadium-style venues over convention centers?

đŸ’Ș HYROX Rimini

This event runs alongside RiminiWellness — think of it like the Cologne/FIBO crossover. High energy, big crowd potential, and strong Italian vibes.

đŸ‡±đŸ‡» HYROX Riga

Latvia joins the map! Another new country, another sign of how fast this sport is expanding.

🔍 Elite 15: The Men’s Breakdown

Last week was all about the women. This week:

📈 CNBC Talks Business with HYROX Founders

HYROX co-founders Moritz Fuerste and Christian Toetzke appeared on CNBC this week to break down the numbers behind the growth.

Here are some đŸ”„ stats:

  • 600,000 participants in 2024 (up from 200,000 last year)
  • Targeting 1.5 million participants in 2025
  • 80% of revenue comes from participant fees
  • 10% from sponsorships, with the rest from merch and affiliate fees
  • Affiliate gyms: aiming to grow from 8,000 → 15,000–20,000 next year
  • No 2028 Olympic bid, but eyes are on Brisbane 2032

🧱 Should the CrossFit Games Start With a HYROX?

CrossFit veterans Chase Ingraham and Bill Grundler (hosts of Get With the Programming) recently reacted to the CrossFit Games' new endurance test:

"Run, Row, Run" = 4-mile run + 3,000m row + 2-mile run

Their hot take?

"The Games should’ve opened with a HYROX."

Which brings up two interesting questions:

  1. Should HYROX align itself with CrossFit in any formal way? They tried before (Getting Mat Fraser out to Miami in the first U.S event). But do they want the association now?
  2. Could the winners of “Run, Row, Run” beat anyone in the current Elite 15 field for men and women?

We’ll let you stew on that.

🎙 Joe DeFranco Weighs In

Legendary strength coach Joe DeFranco got pulled into the conversation too.
A listener asked: “Will HYROX be the end of CrossFit?”

His take:

  • HYROX has two huge advantages:
    1. Standardized format
    2. Less technical movements = lower injury risk

It’s a perspective from outside the bubble — and worth considering.
